How the Dota 2 cosmetic economy works
Dota 2 has one of the broadest cosmetic catalogues in gaming, because every one of its heroes has its own equipment slots, and most have years of sets built for them. - kill counters, ethereal gems, prismatic gems and inscribed gems attach to an item and travel with it. A well-chosen gem, or a counter with a high number on it, can be worth more than the item carrying it.
- Unusual couriers
- couriers with particle effects follow their own market logic, much closer to TF2 Unusuals than to the rest of Dota's catalogue, and the effect usually matters more than the courier.
